BERLIN, GERMANY
June 18, 2016 — Evans & Sutherland (E&S) and the Zeiss-Großplanetarium Berlin, are pleased to announce that the E&S Digistar system will be installed in the newly renovated Zeiss-Großplanetarium scheduled for reopening in Summer 2016. The 10-channel Digistar system will connect to ten Zeiss Velvet high contrast projectors to create a beautiful fulldome interactive display. E&S will also provide its proprietary auto-alignment and auto-blending system that will keep the projection system aligned and looking its best for many years to come.
Tim Florian Horn, Director, Zeiss-Großplanetarium, said, “As one of Europe’s largest planetariums, people around the world have high expectations from us. We needed a robust set of tools to create content and give live astronomical shows. With Digistar we have those tools as well as linking to an extensive and active community who share content. The Domecasting feature of Digistar will allow us to broadcast our live shows to others in Germany as well as around the globe.”
Scott Niskach, E&S Director of International Sales, said, “Zeiss-Großplanetarium is reenergizing a landmark facility with new equipment and highly qualified staff. This team will be creating exciting and educational content. We are proud that the Digistar will be the set of tools they will use to bring these stories to life.”
