DENVER, COLORADO

June 19, 2016 — Evans & Sutherland (E&S) and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science (DMNS), are pleased to announce that the E&S Digistar system will be installed in the Gates Planetarium in September 2016. The 8-channel Digistar system will connect to eight Barco F35 2560 x 1600 resolution projectors to create a fulldome display that is over 5K x 5K. E&S will also provide its proprietary auto alignment and auto blending system that will keep the projection system aligned and looking its best for many years to come.

Dan Neafus, Manager of the Gates Planetarium at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science said, “The Museum selected Evans & Sutherland to meet our demanding standards and sophisticated programming needs. The E&S team installed their 4K D5 solution in our dome during the IMERSA Summits in 2015 and 2016. Their “one click alignment” technology looked great on our challenging dome and made a big impression on the Museum staff as well as the delegates. When it came time for us to refresh our projection system, we required a proven and robust solution. E&S worked very hard to meet our expectations. We are also excited about becoming one of the first planetariums in the world to install Digistar 6, giving us tools to greatly expand our programming options.”

Michael Daut, E&S Creative Director/Marketing Director said, “Dan and his team at DMNS have been innovators in fulldome programming and advocates for the creative use of the dome as an immersive space for astronomy, teaching, entertainment, research, and the arts. We can’t wait to see how they leverage the capabilities of Digistar 6 to create experiences beyond their audience’s wildest dreams.”
